Calvin 12-28-2010

I had a wonderful time capturing Calvin's personality. He loves to laugh, smile, and play. He also enjoys learning about sounds and letters. One of his favorite places was where the plaques with poems were.  His being a little camera shy made getting the great shots of him all the more worth while. He is quite the little charmer. I am grateful that his mom allowed me to capture these moments of him. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did taking them.

Ballet Folklorico Mexicapan and Natalie Hyde

My daughter has been dancing with Ballet Folklorico Mexicapan since last October. My sister Elizabeth danced with the troupe for many years, until she married and moved out of state. The group performs many of the different folkloric dances from various states of Mexico. They are directed by Alex De La Cruz, who has been teaching these folkloric dances for over 20 years. They recently had a performance at a South Mountain Park for underprivileged children. I took this opportunity to record these beautiful images. As many of you may notice, most of the pictures are of my daughter. I am delighted that she has taken an interest in folkloric dancing. It gives me an opportunity to teach her more about some of our heritage. Natalie dances songs from three states. Nuevo Leon which dances are performed in the black, white, and red outfit; Chiapas which are performed in the white, purple, and green outfit with the pink reboso; and Jalisco which are performed in  the green multi ribbon outfit with the pink reboso. I think she just looks so beautiful in each of her outfits. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I did taking them.

Elizabeth and Carlos Castro's Engagement Pictures - March 2005

Elizabeth and Carlos were the first couple that requested me to take their Engagement pictures. Needless to say I felt honored, privileged, and even a little overwhelmed. I think mostly I felt excited.

To me, photography was a hobby that I enjoyed and while I occasionally daydreamed about one day doing it professionally, I never once thought that it would actually happen.

Elizabeth (or Lizi to me) is my youngest sister and is very dear to me. Since taking these pictures she has moved to San Antonio and then to Hawaii. As you can imagine because of the distance we don't get to see each other very often. Looking at these pictures helps me to feel just a little but closer to her.

So with out further ado, I share these pictures with you and hope that you enjoy viewing them as much as I did taking them.
